Betis secured their place in the league by marking third successive away win. With 44 points they left the worse behind them but it would be god if they could make up for the unpleasant surprise they gave their fans when they lost to Levante two weeks ago. A win over Villarreal would keep the continuity of good results and lead Betis high on the standings. Besides, it is a big challenge to beat the second team. Pavone, Edu and Xisco will be in charge of the attack and Sobis might also play. Coach Paco Chaparro is not satisfied with the rumours that the management wish to higher Almeria boss, Unai Emery for the next season. He thinks that he took over Betis when they were near bottom after the defeat by Atletico Madrid in Seville and since then they have made a great progress taking 33 out of 57 possible points. Ten wins, three draws and six defeats is a very positive score for coach Chaparro and his players. Victories over Real and Barcelona in Seville, as well as triumphs marked away against Osasuna, Zaragoza, Atletico and Espanyol speak enough of how strong the team is.
Chaparro thinks that if he had taken the team over earlier, Betis would be fighting for Europe now.
Calm Submarine
A win over Valladolid saw Villarreal take hold of the second place again. A one-point lead will probably be enough to defend the place, even if they lose in Seville. Their first runner-up, Barcelona play so weak in Primera that they do not pose a serious threat, especially not if you have in mind that they play in La Coruna, where they traditionally lose. Manuel Pellegrini in cooperation with the management of the club is already preparing for the next season in the Champions League. Many possibilities are taken in consideration, and excellent play of Rossi, Nihat and Franco in the attack will probably bring about firing Jon Dal Tomasson. Cani too is dissatisfied with his status since when he moved to Zaragoza he was on the verge of getting into the national team, while in Villarreal he sits on the reserve bench. Senna, Cazorla, Capdevila and Pires always get the chance. He would, gladly get back to his former club, in case that Zaragoza stay in the league and Valencia are interested in him for the next season.
This is the game that bears no competitive significance which is why i will see an open play from both sides that have excellent attackers. Final outcome is hard to predict and Betis already proved that they play great against top teams. They beat Real, Barcelona, and Atletico last week so it is time now to scalp Villarreal, as well.
